Let it sit for at least a few hours, or ideally overnight, to allow maximum odour absorption. Vacuum thoroughly, making several passes to ensure all the baking soda is removed.
For extra stubborn odours, mix a few drops of your favourite essential oil with the baking soda before application.
- Vinegar: Nature’s Deodorizer
White vinegar is a powerful, natural cleaning agent that can neutralize many types of smells, including those left behind by pets.
Create a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. This mixture is perfect for cleaning hard surfaces like floors, countertops, and even walls that pets might rub against. Spray the solution liberally on the affected areas, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.

In a spray bottle, combine 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 5-10 drops of your chosen pet-safe essential oil. Shake the mixture well before each use.
This spray is perfect for refreshing furniture, curtains, pet beds, and even car interiors.
However, before applying to large areas, test on a small, hidden spot to ensure it doesn’t cause any discoloration. For best results, you should use it in combination with regular cleaning and vacuuming.

Enzyme cleaners are specially formulated to break down the proteins found in pet urine, feces, and other organic matter. This makes them incredibly effective at eliminating odours at their source, rather than just masking them.
